CLAS Pesto is a group dealing with the fourth range, namely washing and processing vegetables for food use: in this case is basil for the production of pesto. The company boasts a production of nearly 100 million jars of sauce per year, and about 89% of its revenue comes from exports.

CLAS S.p.A. is located in the native region of pesto, an area that is however poor in water resources, that’s reason why the customer’s production process required the use of large quantities of primary water, for a total amount of about 160,000 litres per day.

Especially during the summer – both due to the increase in production and the lack of water resources – the availability of water is crucial: the customer therefore needed a system solution that would allow reduction of water waste on one hand, and recovery, renewing and reusing of water in the production process, on the other hand.

CLAS Pesto is such a case where the solution proposed by Idroricerche has allowed considerable water savings: thanks to the system made with Bardiani valves, the customer has today reduced its water waste by about 65%.

For over 20 years Idroricerche has been designing and implementing plants and technological solutions for food companies in the field of research, management and dealing of primary water, both for process and use.

The company has the aim to seek water resources, to create springs and all relevant plants for mineral waters.

To build its plant, CLAS Pesto purchased a Idrosafe BC 4A, a dynamic microfiltration system with hollow fibre membrane. The system included ZVF pneumatic butterfly valves with J-GIOTTO TOP 360 ° control units, equipped with pilot solenoid valve. Idrosafe BC 4A is sized to treat flow rates up to 12 m3 / h.

This system treats waters of the basil washing tank, allowing the reuse of high quantities of water and, having at -the same time- a microbiologically compliant water resource available.
